FACTS
1. Women do not ejaculate
during sexual intercourse. Probably, the lubrication that accompanies the
excitement stage is mistaken for discharge.
2. Simultaneous orgasms are not
a compulsion.
3. Women also experience
nocturnal orgasms.
4. Nocturnal emissions (wet
dreams) are not a sign of sexual disorder. They are part of normal sexual
process.
5. Not true. On the contrary
the venereal disease sufferer will transmit the disease.
6. Even when a person indulges
in masturbation frequently, the penis never shrinks and becomes small. Once any
part or organ of the human body has attained its maximum size, it will never
become small unless it is partially or fully cut off surgically or
accidentally.
7. Not true. Whatever nutrition
is good for other body parts is also good for sex organs.
8. Not true. Masturbation is a
normal physiological activity.
9. Sterilisation (vasectomy in
males and tubectomy in females) does not reduce the desire and performance. In
fact, by removing the fear of pregnancy, sex can be more relished.
10. Not true. Sexual urge is
equal in both the sexes.
11. Anal sex may be practiced
by heterosexuals also.
12. A man has an erection of
the penis just by desiring it. The entire physiological sexual response should
be gone through before an erection occurs.
13. The masculinity of a person
is not judged by the ability to get an erection. There are other criteria.
14. Menopause is not the end of
a woman’s sexual life. It is just the end of her reproduction only.
15. Talking to youngsters on
sex or imparting sex education will not lead to promiscuity. Even without sex education,
people indulge in promiscuity. In fact, more married people have promiscuous
relations than young ones. Educating the young on sex and sexual behaviour
helps them to develop a healthy and positive attitude towards sexuality. More
importantly, better interpersonal relationship will help lead a more harmonious
marital and family life.
16. The majority of women can’t
orgasm without intercourse alone, regardless of how big or large the penis is,
because it does not provide sufficient stimulation to the clitoris. Many
couples struggle needlessly, believing that one of them is doing something
wrong if they are not able to achieve this. Using positions that stimulate the
clitoris during intercourse may work for some. You can also stimulate the
clitoris with a finger or a vibrator during intercourse or give your woman her
satisfaction by pleasuring her orally or manually.
17. The hymen is not a test of
virginity. Bleeding usually occurs due to rupture of the hymen in a virgin.
However, the hymen may be absent congenitally or may be ruptured during
sporting activities, vigorous exercises or with the use of tampons. So, a
virgin may not necessarily bleed during her first sexual intercourse.
18. Menstrual material is
sterile and sex during menstruation is absolutely safe, if both partners so
desire. In fact, many couples find sex more enjoyable during this time as there
is no fear of a possible pregnancy and enhanced pleasurable sensations promoted
by moist vagina.
19. Girls can and often become
pregnant the first time they have intercourse.
20. Although a woman may not
menstruate when breast feeding, she can still become pregnant.
21. While a female is less
likely to get pregnant during certain periods of her menstrual cycle, there is
no “absolutely” safe period. There is always a chance she will get pregnant.
22. Withdrawal is not effective
way to prevent pregnancy. Even before ejaculation as the penis leaks semen,
that contains thousands of sperms.
23. Sex play and sexual dreams
with friends of either gender is common during preadolescence and early
adolescent years. Such experiences should not be interpreted as proof of any
long term, adult sexual orientation.
24. Having nocturnal orgasms is
normal, healthy, natural and nothing to worry about.
25. Most penises when erect are
of more or less the same size. A large penis is not necessarily essential to
sexually satisfy the female partner. Only, outer 2 inches of vagina is
sensitive to touch, and so a penis of even this length is enough for
stimulation of the female partner. Penis need not to be absolutely straight
when erect.
